These paintings show my efforts to learn from Cezanne and Matisse how to construct a painting that rests its eye on nature and its mind on form. My hope is to develop a style that can answer my own desire to make paintings that can look beautiful to me, and can explain themselves to viewers who with their own wisdom can find a unity in the form that satisfies their desire to be moved by art and reminded of nature.
